Conditions Report: Dec 5 – Good Access With Snow Coming
We’re happy to say that Quartz is groomed and operating as normal and this might be the best accessed snowmobiling in the province right now! Silent parking is also money but Gorman is another story. After an epic start to the season the snow taps have been a bit hesitant in the last week. The good news is that there’s 40+ cms of snow in the forecast with temps remaining below freezing, so that should be the boost we need to ride the boosts we love.
Now is a good time to to pick up your W26 Golden Snowmobile Memberships online and maximize your value. Joining our club helps us in so many ways: it helps us with costs up front to get the grooming season going, but it also helps us apply for grants by proving how many people support snowmobiling in Golden.

Snow & Weather
SNOW AND WEATHER
There’s been dribs and drabs of snow in the past week with KHMR reporting 12cms but the real story is the 46cm that’s in the forecast coming up. Temps look to be holding in the mild minuses so it could be quite good soon. Seems like you should plan to attack when you can. It’s time.

Strong winds at upper elevations may have created small isolated pockets of wind slab. Assess steep slopes for dense or stiff snow before committing.
Grooming
Staging Areas Latest Info
Quartz Creek
Quartz may be the easiest accessed mountain riding in the province right now. Park at the main lot, which is good for trailers and ride a groomed trail in to the zone.
The first 2km of trail are a bit thin but after that it’s pretty good.
Silent Pass
logging is happening past the 45km turn off to Silent Pass’s upper parking lot this year. We’ve been told this will happen till at least late February. This means that sledders heading to Silent should be able to drive to the 46.5km parking lot for most of the winter.
Silent has good coverage and has good early season riding.
Gorman Lake
People have been venturing up Gorman. Trailers are not recommended. Parking is wherever you find the snowline. Parking is around 12-13km up.
The lake is reportedly frozen but might want to consider lingering on it.
