Conditions Report: Dec 11 – Double Deep Resets
If deep powder is your thing then this is the week to come ride Golden! Warm storms to the west remained cool in Golden and the coverage is epic with over a meter of snow in the past week. Quartz continues to be turn key with the added novelty of snow right from the parking lot (no pesky pebbles in a drive belt from riding slushy gravel). Highway travel has been sketchy this week as freezing rain down low makes semi trailers spiral everywhere, so please travel with care. Avalanche dangers persist with the weekend out look alpine being orange/considerable.
Now is a good time to to pick up your W26 Golden Snowmobile Memberships online and maximize your value. Joining our club helps us in so many ways: it helps us with costs up front to get the grooming season going, but it also helps us apply for grants by proving how many people support snowmobiling in Golden.

Snow & Weather
SNOW AND WEATHER
KHMR is reporting 105 cms in the past week and the taps aren’t done as there is another 50cm+ snow forecast in the next 6 days. The recipe for deep snow storms is lining up as arctic air is pushing down in between warm wet storms swirling from the south.
Quartz had a full reset on Dec 9 and Dec 11.

Please check Avalanche.ca everyday you ride!
“Allow recent storm snow to settle and bond, and choose conservative terrain accordingly.” – Avalanche.ca on Dec 11
Grooming
Grooming
Golden might have the best access mountain sledding in the province right now. You can sled from the parking lot in Quartz which can also accommodate large trailers.
Staging Areas Latest Info
Quartz Creek
Quartz may be the easiest accessed mountain riding in the province right now. Park at the main lot, which is good for trailers and ride a groomed trail in to the zone.
There has been 2 full resets of snow in Quartz this week!
Silent Pass
logging is happening past the 45km turn off to Silent Pass’s upper parking lot this year. We’ve been told this will happen till at least late February. This means that sledders heading to Silent should be able to drive to the 46.5km parking lot for most of the winter.
The riding in Silent is deep. The road is icy and not great. We’re not sure if the parking lot has been cleared but will update here when we know.
Gorman Lake
Haven’t heard a lot about Gorman so if you’ve been riding there let us know! @Sledgolden.
