Dec 8, 2016 Golden BC Snowmobile Conditions
Cold and clear has been the theme for the last week as frigid temps and blue skies have ruled the days. Those willing to brave the weather have been rewarded with stellar views and predominantly stable snow. Travel has been good and deep snow has been found. There’s half a foot forecast for the weekend and but temps will stay low so bring an extra balaclava when you come.
Cold air and clear skies make you feel like you can see forever. It’s been a good week to poke your nose in to places you haven’t been before.
Snow Beta
In general the snow stability has been great but this cold air is allowing surface hoar to grow, especially on shady north aspects. With new snow set to fall this weekend, we anticipate any significant snow loads to react on this layer. Caution is always advised.
Please remember to check the avalanche conditions.
Weather
There’s almost half a foot in the forecast for this weekend. Temps will stay cool. Bundle up!
Travel
The highways have been brutal lately. Please travel with care. Check out DriveBC for current conditions.
