Conditions Report: Warm and Wet!

We were complaining about it being too cold last week and now we are complaining about it being too warm this week! What a wild ride we’ve been on in regards to temperature fluctuations. That being said, it is snowing up high right now and we think it’s gonna be good out there this weekend…! We are working on getting grooming back on track and hope the snow continues to provide us with all the joy we’ve been experiencing out here in Golden.

Mountain Sledder Must Read!

Check out this awesome article about the costs of Grooming! Big high fives to Mountain Sledder magazine for putting out this awesome piece. The expenses associated with running a grooming program like the one Sled Golden (and all of the BC clubs and societies) has is quite enormous. Click here to read on and find out more. Thanks for bringing this to light, it’s been on our minds.

SNOW AND WEATHER

It was SUPER cold earlier this month, and now it’s warm, almost too warm… It looks to be cooling down slightly before the weekend which is good news,  but be sure to bring extra clothes to help stay dry and warm in case your gear gets wet!

There’s a blip of snow coming on Saturday and there’s sure to be some good views to be had on either side of the storm. Come and enjoy it, it’s never ending this year thus far.

Avalanche

With the warm weather, the avalanche hazard is definitely higher at the moment, but should be levelling out a bit by the weekend. Be sure to check the forecast here each day for accurate up to date information as the situation continues to change day by day!

Did you know that if you show proof of an AST (Avalanche Skills Training) course. you get $5 off a day pass at any one of our kiosks?

Grooming

As long as those avalanche conditions cooperate with us we will have the trails all groomed up by the weekend. That being said, be sure to check social media for updates and always watch the Garmin grooming map (scroll down to see grooming in REAL TIME!).

Logging is supposed to be completed by the end of the week at Quartz, so stay tuned. Hopefully we will not have a 40 vehicle parking limit by Saturday morning. Fingers crossed!
