Conditions Report: Final Week: Let’s Race!
It’s the curtain call for grooming in Golden this weekend. All the zones had a groom this week but that will be it for the season after the weekend. The Riley Suhan Race is this weekend in Quartz and you can still register to race (in person at the riders meeting on Friday). If you’re not racing, it’s damn fine time to spectate as well.

Snow & Weather
SNOW AND WEATHER
We’ve had 20-30 cms of snow in the past week and the riding up high has been great. There’s not much more in the forecast this week but the temps will remain cool and that will preserve the snow. It’s definitely still worth coming out, so don’t pull the golf clubs out just yet.
Avalanche Safety
Avalanche Conditions
Check Avalanche.ca everyday you ride!
From Avalache.ca on March 20: “Accumulated new snow is developing into storm slabs. Back off steep terrain if you see evidence of nearby avalanches or signs of instability like cracks in the snow surface.”
Travel and Terrain Advice from March 20:
- Avoid steep, rocky, and wind effected areas where triggering slabs is more likely.
- The best and safest riding will be on slopes that have soft snow without any slab properties.
- The more the snow feels like a slurpy, the more likely loose wet avalanches will become.
