Conditions Report: Almost! But Not Quite…
Are the dreams of sledding beginning already? We thought so. It’s been unseasonably dry here so far this year, but it was definitely snowing up high this week! Though you may be antsy to get out, and the instagram world might be tempting you…it’s worth waiting a bit longer. There are tons of hazards lurking; creeks and rocks being the main concern. But in the meantime, head on over to the website to get your Membership sorted before you arrive at the gate! It’ll get you sledding sooner than the suckers who waited! And before you head out this winter, check out the KNOW BEFORE YOU GO video put together by Summit Communications! It’s a worthwhile watch for every sledder.
Quartz Cabin
We had a couple crews up at Quartz in the past month getting things ready for the season. You’ll notice a couple new windows, siding and roofing as well as a BRAND NEW Beacon Basin. Try it out and let us know what you think! Check out the Webcam and Conditions page on the website for real time weather and photos of conditions at the cabin!
Quartz Logging and Mining
Our local mill is harvesting at Quartz this fall. We’ll be staging our parking at the 9 km until early December and then will be parking back in the main lots while they finish off their harvest lower down. Please watch this video for logging Road etiquette, don’t forget your VHF radio, and follow all directions of the Gate Staff.
A few parking lots have been built just slightly up the East Quartz road, LEFT of the Y. Just a reminder to take care when travelling around the mine sites. The miners have put up flagging tape to mark hazards and mining areas, but be cautious especially during the early season!
Memberships
Thanks to those of you that have purchased your memberships already this year! For those of you that haven’t, you can purchase your membership online. The website has been a little bit on and off this season, so just be patient and check back if it’s not up and running at any given time.
Once the season begins, you can check in at any of the gates to get your card up and running for the season or to pick up a new one. Bring back the card you used last year, as it is re-usable and re-loadable. For replacement cards, a $5 charge will be implemented, so keep it in a safe spot.
2021-22 Sponsors
Thanks again to all our Sponsors for the 2021-22 Season. We couldn’t do it without you! For any businesses interested in sponsoring the Club in future, please reach out. Our affordable marketing for your business makes for a great trade off, bringing sledders through your doors while supporting a local Non-Profit!
The Newest Cat in the Fleet
Today we are picking up a “new to us” Grooming Machine to join our fleet! This BR275 comes to us from the Kootenay’s and we are excited to get it up and running to groom the Gorman trail this winter. This is a temporary upgrade until we receive a grant for a bigger and better machine. For now, this cat allows us to have a back-up machine available which will make our grooming program more reliable!
