A Major Milestone for Quartz Creek

Last year, the Golden Snowmobile Club learned that the bridge at the 9 km mark on the Quartz Creek trail was no longer suitable for use and needed to be replaced.

As our busiest managed riding area, Quartz Creek is essential to snowmobiling in Golden. Losing access would have had major implications, not just for Quartz Creek, but also for the club’s ability to sustain operations at Gorman Lake and Silent Pass.

Replacing the bridge became a major undertaking involving planning, fundraising, grant applications, equipment, and an enormous amount of volunteer work.

We’re very happy to report that the new bridge was successfully set in place the weekend of October 31, 2026.

Thank You to the People Who Made It Happen

This project is a tremendous example of what can be accomplished when people come together to support snowmobiling.

We want to extend a special thank you to Joe and Carson Elliot of Flat Bear Mining and Andrew Ratzlaff of HR Pacific. Their knowledge, dedication, hard work, and generous contribution of time were central to making this project happen.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who contributed their time and labour throughout the project. There are too many to name individually, but your contributions have made a lasting difference to snowmobiling in Golden.

Essential financial support was provided through the CBT REDI Grant, Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI), and Recreation Sites and Trails BC. Without this funding, the bridge replacement would not have been possible.

A New Parking Lot at Quartz Creek

Along with the new bridge, riders will notice another significant improvement this winter.

A new, much larger parking lot has been developed at Quartz Creek to better accommodate vehicles and trailers.

When turning off the highway, you’ll find the highway rest area on your right and our new designated parking lot directly to your left.

Please park in the designated snowmobile parking lot and leave the highway rest area clear. There’s plenty of room in the new lot for everyone.
