Conditions Report: Dec 26 – December to Remember

Snowmobile conditions in Golden are all-time right now and you don’t want to miss this December to Remember. Last week we reported that 121 cm had fallen over the past 7 days. This week there has been 134 cms more on top… Yup, that’s a 2 week total of 255cm of snow! And the thing that totals don’t always report is the quality of the product. Most of this week’s snow has been champagne powder because the temps have remained cool enough to bring in the fluff, it’s about as good as it gets out here! To say it’s deep out there is an understatement but you can still get around in the compacted main zones. Grooming is taking place in all 3 of a managed areas and we included a push in to Old Man this week. Avalanche conditions remain considerable in the alpine and it looks like we’re going to see the sun and cooler temps for the next few days.

If you’re thinking about sledding in Golden this week and you’re looking for a sign. This is it. You should go.

Snow & Weather

SNOW AND WEATHER

We’ve been hearing this is the deepest December since the 1950’s and while that may be an undocumented rumour the facts are that it’s deep out there.  There’s been over 5 meters of snow recorded at KHMR this season and our sled zones often get 10-20% more than there.

There’s only about 10 cms in the forecast now and temps look like they are trending cooler and more sunny.
