Conditions Report: We Got a Reset!

We had a bit of a reset this week starting Sunday afternoon and going throughout the night. If you were out there on Monday you got to start the week off with 15-20 cm of freshies and a bluebird day. Take a look at what Silent looked like on Wednesday, Feb 2…

The reset was much needed and left us with some soft landings and face shots with a sharp enough carve. It was a cold one out there today, but it looks like temps will be more reasonable into the weekend and accompanied by the sun if we are lucky!

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new Silent Pass parking lot, this is what it’s looking like these days.

SNOW AND WEATHER

We just received a nice reset which should get us through the week nicely. Today (Wednesday) was COLD! but it’s looking to turn around quickly for the remainder of the week. We’ve got a little bit of snow forecasted for Friday to get us ready for a weekend of some sun and temperatures just below the double digits. Looks like a nice weekend to ride!

Avalanche

There were some small storm slab avalanches this week, which have turned into wind slabs recently.  Watch for changing conditions while you’re out there, especially when gaining features that may be wind affected!

Stay safe out there and be sure to check the forecast here each day for accurate and up to date information.

Grooming

When it comes to grooming, check for planned grooms below and watch the Garmin grooming map for updates (scroll down to see grooming in REAL TIME!). We plan to groom as often as is necessary, based on usage of the trails.

Parking: Parking at the main highway lot.
Road: Side "bench" trail built for snowmobile use until the 4k. Please use it and stay off the FSR when possible.
Additional notes:

There is still active logging at Quartz creek at the 4km marker. There is a side “bench” trail that is meant to be travelled on. Please stay off the FSR as it is illegal to travel on it.  This is for the safety of everyone. Travel slow and pay attention.

Check in at the Quartz gate for the most up to date info.

Grooms scheduled: Friday, Sunday, Tuesday and as needed.

Conditions up at Gorman have been excellent.

Equipment hauling happening on the Dogtooth FSR as local contractors perform “right of way” (road building). There’s quite a bit of room for parking at the 3.5km, but keep it tight.  Gorman has been busy this year so be prepared for a full lot!
