Conditions Report: November Rocks!

November has been quite the month so far! Conditions are great for early season riding, the parking at Quartz is going well and we’re gearing up to have all our zones ready by next week at the latest. Quartz is on its regular grooming program and we have opened Gorman up this week. If you are interested in checking out a new zone, you might consider heading that way. Caution is still very necessary as there are many boulder fields in the Gorman area to watch out for, so take it easy, would ya!

Kayli Dentman – Nov 20, 2021

There have been dribs and drabs of snow in the past week amounting to approximately 20-25cm in the Quartz zone. Those early season hazards are filling in nicely, but don’t forget about them quite yet!

If you haven’t had a chance yet, check out our new RIDING AREAS videos on YouTube. Thanks again to Summit Communications for their work on this project!

Be aware of the logging that is getting started in the near future at Quartz. See below for more details.

Snow and Weather

We’re expecting 40+ cm’s over the next few days which means it’ll be cloudy and snowy out there! Hopefully that will soften up the alpine zones which definitely saw some wind this past week…though the wind looks like it will continue to blow out of the southwest. The freezing level should stay below 1500m for the duration of the weekend.

Avalanche

Avalanche.ca started reporting early! Have a look to see what to expect over the next few days. Heads up, it’s definitely getting spicier with the incoming snow. Watch for signs of instabilities out there.

Many people have been submitting MIN reports this year on Avalanche.ca, so check them out and stay up to date with information. Submit MIN reports any chance you get. The more information we have for forecasting and public knowledge, the better!

Grooming

Quartz is now receiving regular grooms and we are gearing up to push Gorman this weekend. Maybe even Silent if we are lucky, but don’t expect that one until next week sometime. Stay tuned for updates on Social Media. We are doing our best to get there as soon as we can.

Quartz

The parking situation at Quartz is going smooth thus far! Thanks for all the feedback as we work on this. The gate staff appreciate your patience. Once logging begins we will be holding vehicles down at the main lot for logging trucks to convoy down to help prevent any dangerous encounters.
