Conditions Report: CLOSED For the Season

The Golden Snowmobile Club will cease grooming operations immediately for the season due to COVID-19 as per a recommendation from Rec Sites and Trails BC (our governing body). We recommend that you do not travel to Golden and locals adhere to all isolation policies as per federal and provincial health authorities. Trails will remain open to the public but no grooming services, road maintenance, fee collection or avalanche forecasts should be expected.

Stay safe everyone. We’ll see you next year.

From RSTBC:

“Recreation Sites and Trails BC is discontinuing it’s normal winter operation in light of the COVID-19 global pandemic.  The decision has been made as a measure to maintain the personal health and safety of our volunteers, members and site users.

Fee collection and grooming services are not to be expected to the remainder of this season.  Trails will remain open to the public.  Cabin/s are closed – but they remain unlocked for emergency purposes.

These are unprecedented times and we must all work together to limit the spread of COVID-19.  The  overarching goals when it comes to responding to COVID-19 are to:

– Comply with direction from the Provincial Health Officer;

– Limit destination travel and/or travel in general;

– Limit instances of social contact; and

– RSTBC will continue to provide outdoor recreation opportunities where the risk is low and where practices such as social distancing are possible.

Thank you for your Understanding.”

If you do travel in the mountains you should avoid risk.

It’s also a good idea to remember that Avalanche.ca will have reduced information to make forecasts with due to the closure of so many commercial operations operating in avalanche terrain. Please tread carefully.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to all of our members, staff and contractors that make SledGolden a reality. A number of people have been laid off early and budgets and contracts are needing to be shuffled just so we can continue. It’s not easy times but we will get through it.
