Silent Pass trails open Friday Dec 11th

Snow and Weather

Even though it rained on us last week, we got away with it! The higher elevations managed to stay soft. That being said, some of the trails in the trees got a little bit icy, so keep your head up with this fresh snow on top. There might be some hard chunks underneath (the crust is up to 20cm thick in some areas)!

With dribs and drabs of fresh snow in the forecast and seasonal temps continuing, we can expect a good weekend ahead of us… there could be up to a foot of fresh snow on Saturday too, so get ready for it!

Avalanche

There’s up to 30cms of fresh snow out there in areas and the wind has been blowing it around the past few days, making for variable conditions in the alpine. Watch out for wind-loaded features and always keep in mind the deeper layers that are easier to trigger with a snowmobile. The snow will continue to fall on the weekend, so be looking out for the changing conditions that come with increased precipitation! And don’t forget check the forecast before you go!

Parking at Silent Pass

There’s a new parking lot? WHAT?! Yes, it’s true… we have a proper parking lot this year. This doesn’t mean we’ll have a proper parking lot EVERY year, but this year, we do. Drive up to the 31k, and you will find yourselves an easy to turn around place to call home for the day. You’re welcome. But seriously, thanks to the folks at Canfor for making this a reality for us this year. We couldn’t have asked for a better pre-Christmas gift!

Grooming: Huge Thanks

We’re thankful for the hours our grooming staff have been putting in, getting our cats purring & those trails groomed! With some unforeseen issues we are finally moving in the right direction and we are back on track with our regular grooming operations. Check social media for updates on grooming.
