Colder temps and half a meter of new snow are the big stories this week for snowmobiling in Golden BC. We’re back to normal winter conditions after an extended period of warmer temps up high. This however, is a time of caution as the new snow may prove to be reactive so avalanche safety should be a concern. We’ve had approx. 45 cms of new snow over the past week and now there’s 10-20 cms forecast in the next week with some blue skies too. All in all, it’s a pretty great time to get out to Golden and push a throttle.
It’s forecast to be cold in the next week. Make sure you dress appropriately and are prepared for self-rescue. It never hurts to throw in some hand and feet warmers in your pack.

We are operating 7 days a week at all 3 gates until after the holidays, with the exception of Xmas and New Year Day: those days are free.
Weather and Snow
Please check with http://www.avalanche.ca/map everyday before you head out.
Using a VHF radio on active logging roads is an essential part of having a safe day. Please watch our road safety video to learn more.
Economic Impact Study
Don’t be surprised if you are asked to fill out a survey at one of our trail heads. We are conducting an Economic Impact Study in the next few weeks. We’re hopeful the results of this study will help us apply for more grants to continue to make snowmobiling infrastructure better. Thank you for your patience.
Your member card will be ready to pick up at whichever gate you choose to go to. If you purchased your membership online we’ll have your name and it will be simple matter of having you sign our waiver and picking up your card.
The new snow has really helped out at Quartz. Conditions in the alpine are approaching mid-winter coverage and there’s good snow in the trees. Watch the buried surface hoar for reactions in the snowpack.
Seems like Silent got a bit more snow than the northern zones this past cycle. This seems like a good week to go to Silent.
Logging will be happening up Silent Pass Dec 27 – 29 – please use caution on the road then. They will be pulling out of Vowel Creek and back to the 6 km after the New Year (likely before Jan 10).
